‘The Devil’s Stomping Ground’ Exclusive Trailer: Urban Legend Meets Hybrid Found Footage Horror
by Mary Beth McAndrews on Dread Central
Every town, no matter how small, has at least one urban legend. In rural North Carolina, that urban legend is that of The Devil’s Tramping Grounds. It’s a supposedly cursed piece of land where the Devil walks. No plants grow there, dogs are terrified of it, and campers report seeing strange figures near it in the dead of night. Sure there’s probably a scientific explanation, but where’s the spooky fun in that? Now that urban legend is getting the horror movie treatment in Jonathan Landau’s new film The Devil’s Stomping Ground. Landau takes the well-known tall-tale and creates a hybrid found footage horror about, well, the horrors of making a movie, paired with some supernatural happenings for good measure.
